ERIN LAYTON | CLASS OF '94 | INDUCTED: NOVEMBER 3, 2006


A 1994 graduate, Erin earned 11 varsity letters in field hockey, basketball, and softball.

Erin still holds the softball records for season batting average and is top 5 all-time in runs scored, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, and runs batted in. Her honors include First-Team All-CVC [Colonial Valley Conference] in all three sports. In softball, she was First-Team All-State and was chose by The Trenton Times as 'Player of the Year' in 1994 and 'Player of the Decade' in 1999.

Erin went on to play softball at the University of Connecticut where she ranks in the top 10 all-time in 5 career categories. She was chosen as 'Big East Player of the Week' twice and was First-Team All-Big East. In addition, Erin played professional softball for the New Jersey Diamonds.

Erin went on to become an assistant coach at Furman College and Brown University, and was head coach at the College of St. Elizabeth, St. Francis University and Marist College. She currently is the head coach of the University of Rhode Island.
