MATT JOINER | CLASS OF '07 | INDUCTED: SEPTEMBER 12, 2014


As a sophomore, Matt played first base and pitched for the 'Stars. He earned First Team All-CVC honors as a utility player and was among the top five in the CVC with the most hits. He had the 3rd highest batting average in a season in the CVC (.481) and helped the 'Stars win the Valley title that year. As a junior in 2006, he led the team with five homeruns and 26 RBIs and a .397 average. He continued his torrid hitting as a senior as he led his team in runs scored, triples, homeruns, and batting average. In 2007, he was selected the team MVP and earned CVC First-Team honors.

Besides playing baseball, Matt was a four-year starter on the basketball team. 2006 was a great year for him and the Northstars as Matt became a member of the exclusive 1,000 Point Club, and the team qualified for the State Tournament for the first time in four years. Matt finished his career with 1,069 points and was selected to the All-CVC First Team and was team MVP his senior year.

After graduating from Nottingham, Matt attended Mercer County College and Fairleigh Dickenson University where he earned a Criminal Justice Degree. Upon his graduation from FDU, he ranked fifth as the all-time career leader in hits and third in all-time career RBIs.
