CHARLES IACONO | CLASS OF '02 | INDUCTED: OCTOBER 12, 2007


A 2002 graduate, Charles Iacono earned nine varsity letters including three each in soccer, wrestling, and baseball. His selection in his first year of eligibility was a testament to his overall excellence in all three sports.

Charlie was a three-year starter in soccer. He played a large part in Nottingham's return to soccer prominence form 1999-2001. His play resulted in All-County recognition in both 2000 and 2001.

In wrestling, Charlie was also a three-year starter. He was a key part in Nottingham's Colonial Valley Conference Championships in 2000 and 2001. In 2001, he placed first in both the Mercer County and District 25 Tournaments and finished in fourth place in the Region 7 Tournament earning him First Team All-County recognition.

Charlie achieved his greatest honors in baseball. A three-year starter, he was First Team All-County in 2000 and 2001. He was 'Player of the Year' in 2002 and holds the career record for hits with 105 in his three seasons. Charlie's exceptional achievements in all three sports led to his selection as the 'Athlete of the Year' by both The Trentonian and The Trenton Times.

Charlie moved on to Mercer County Community College and The College of New Jersey where he continued his outstanding baseball career. His exceptional play at the collegiate level led to his signing of a free-agent contract with the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball.
