1986 CENTRAL JERSEY CHAMPIONS | BOYS' SOCCER TEAM | INDUCTED: SEPTEMBER 30, 2011


The 1986 Boys' Soccer Team still holds records in goals scored (64), fewest goals allowed (18), shutouts (10), and wins (15) and is the first team to win the Colonial Valley Division and the Central Jersey Group III Championships.

Ranked third in CJ Group III, Nottingham defeated cross-town rival Steinert, Wall Township, and West Windsor to reach the Central Jersey Finals. In a game which saw the defense play flawlessly, the Northstars defeated Raritan High School 2-0 to capture the school's first-ever state-level championship!

1986 Leading scorers included John Such, Sean Griffin, Ken Miranda, Pat Cimerola, Russ Terlecki, and Bill Dodds. The defense was lead by Goalie Mike Edinger and Jason Wingerter in the backfield and David Fowler in goal. Other members also included Chris Gervasio, Frank Gunson, Eric Gutierrez, Joe Helmich, Quincy Hendryx, Warren Lewis, John Mieli, Phil Peroni, Jon Snover, and Kelly Wilson.

Year-end individual highlights included John Such’s record 25 goals, David Fowler and his backfield’s 10 shutouts, and Sean Griffin’s 12 goals and 11 assists.

Post-season recognition was given to Fowler, Such, and Griffin on The Trentonian 1st team All-County; and Miranda and Wingerter, 2nd team. Such, Griffin, and Wingerter were chosen 1st team by the Mercer County Coaches, and received All-State honors.
